Colostomy, Ileostomy and Urostomy Supplies
-
Colostomy supplies: drainable and closed-end colostomy bags. Closed-end pouches are often used when output is formed.
-
Ileostomy supplies: drainable pouches, including high output pouches from Coloplast and Hollister, for looser output.
-
Urostomy supplies: urostomy pouches from Hollister, Coloplast and ConvaTec with a tap at the bottom for draining urine, and a night bag for overnight drainage.
How to Choose Your Ostomy Supplies
-
One-piece or two-piece: a one-piece pouch has the barrier built in; a two-piece system has a separate barrier and pouch that join together.
-
Stoma size: cut-to-fit products let you trim the opening; pre-cut products have a set opening size, shown in the product name.
-
Flat or convex: convex barriers and pouches are often used for a stoma that is flush with or below the skin.
-
Same system: a two-piece pouch only fits a barrier from the same system with the same flange size, for example a New Image pouch on a New Image barrier.
If you are not sure which products suit your stoma, ask your ostomy nurse.
