OSMOLITE 1.2 CAL is therapeutic nutrition that provides complete, balanced nutrition for long- or short-term tube feeding for patients who may benefit from increased protein and calories. For tube feeding. For supplemental or sole-source nutrition. It may be used for oral feeding of patients with altered taste perception. Use under medical supervision.
- Concentrated calories (1.2 calories per mL) and high in protein (18.5% of Cal) to help patients gain and maintain a healthy weight
- Protein is needed for lean body tissue maintenance and repair.
- Fat blend contains high-oleic safflower, canola, and MCT oils.
- Patients who absorb lipids improperly may benefit from consuming a formula that contains MCTs as part of the fat source.

Preparation
Instructions for Use: 8 fl oz Container
- Store unopened at room temperature; avoid extreme temperatures.
- Shake well before opening.
- After opening, refrigerate and consume the product within 48 hours. If consuming product directly from the container, refrigerate and consume within 24 hours.
Oral Feeding
- May be used for total or supplemental nutrition.
- May be fed at room temperature or chilled.
Tube Feeding
- Follow the physician's instructions.
- Adjust flow rate and volume according to the patient's condition and tolerance.
- Feed at room temperature using a feeding pump or syringe.
- Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.
- Avoid contamination during preparation and use.
Ready-To-Hang Container
All medical foods, regardless of the type of administration system, require careful handling because they can support microbial growth. Follow these instructions for clean technique and proper setup to reduce the potential for microbial contamination.
NOTE: Failure to follow the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE increases the potential for microbial contamination and may reduce hangtime.
- Administer the product at room temperature.
- THOROUGHLY wash your hands with soap and water before handling the container or the feeding set.
- Turn the container upside down and SHAKE VIGOROUSLY, using a twisting motion for at least 10 seconds.
- DO NOT touch any part of the container or feeding set that comes into contact with the formula.
- When initiating feeding, follow the physician's instructions. Adjust flow rate and volume according to the patient's condition and tolerance.
- Additional fluid requirements should be met by giving water between or after feedings or when flushing the tube.
For Use with Enteral Feeding Pumps:
- Remove the dust cover from the TH Safety Screw Cap.
- Remove the dust cover from the feeding set connector.
- Insert the feeding set connector into the port of the TH Safety Screw Cap and completely pierce the oil.
- Turn the onnector collar clockwise until it is securely fastened.
- Close the lamp on the switch before inverting the container.
- Invert the container and suspend, using the anging ring at the bottom of the container.
Precautions
- Follow directions for use provided by the manufacturer of the feeding sets.
- Unless a shorter hang time is specified by the set manufacturer, hang the product for up to 48 hours after initial connection when the lean technique and only one new set are used. Otherwise, hang for no more than 24 hours.
