No. The indicator is on the charger, not the controller: it glows red while charging and green when fully charged. The hand controller's own light stays off during and after charging. To check the battery level, press UP or DOWN on the controller and the light will indicate the remaining charge.

How often should I charge it if I only use it for emergencies?
