The McKesson Calcium Alginate Nasopharyngeal Collection Swab is a sterile, single-use specimen collection tool with a 5-1/2 inch aluminum shaft and a miniature calcium alginate tip. Designed for nasopharyngeal sampling and other small-cavity collection tasks, it provides a clean, controlled way to gather specimens for laboratory testing and clinical screening.

The mini-tip head is purpose-built for narrow anatomical sites, helping reach the posterior nasopharynx with minimal patient discomfort. The slender aluminum shaft offers enough rigidity to navigate the nasal passage while remaining flexible enough to reduce trauma during routine collection workflows in primary care, urgent care, and laboratory environments.

Calcium alginate is well suited to specimen capture for downstream culture and microbiological testing where its absorbency supports adequate sample yield. The tip is biodegradable, supporting environmentally aware disposal practices, while the shaft is a single-use, disposable design that supports infection-control protocols by eliminating reprocessing.

Each swab is supplied sterile with plain (additive-free) preparation, making it appropriate for general specimen collection and small-cavity wound care.
