Product Overview

The Saf-T Holder safety blood collection tube holder is a needlefree transfer device built specifically for transferring blood from a syringe draw into multiple vacuum collection tubes without exposing the operator to a hollow-bore needle. Manufactured by ICU Medical (formerly Smiths Medical), it is engineered to keep phlebotomists in compliance with OSHA bloodborne pathogen directives.

The back-end needle and Luer adapter are permanently attached to the holder. That single design choice is what eliminates the most common needle-recapping injury pathway and ensures that the device cannot be inadvertently disassembled or reused with an exposed sharp. Female Luer adapter fits standard syringes; multi-sample Luer connection supports filling multiple vacuum tubes from a single draw.

Use during emergency-department draws when an IV start was used to obtain blood, during difficult-stick venipunctures completed via syringe, in pediatric collection rooms where small-volume syringe draws are common, and in any setting transitioning from butterfly-and-syringe to standard tube-collection workflow.
