Product Overview

The Polymedco Sediplast® Sedimentation Tube is a clear plastic Westergren-format erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) tube built for use with the Polymedco Sediplast Autozero ESR System. The 220 mm length follows Westergren standards, supporting reproducible ESR measurements in routine hematology workflows.

Each tube is prefilled with sodium citrate diluent, removing a manual prep step and reducing variation between operators. The pre-filled format also lets the lab use a smaller patient blood sample volume than traditional Westergren methods, which helps in pediatric and difficult-draw cases where blood volume is limited.

The system’s standout feature is the automatic self-zeroing cap and reservoir: as the sample is loaded, displaced volume returns to the reservoir and the meniscus self-zeros at the top of the tube. This eliminates the manual zeroing step that can introduce technician-level variability into ESR measurement.

The pierceable stopper supports closed-tube sample addition workflows, and the ventilation cap design supports proper air movement during sedimentation. Tube is supplied non-sterile; McKesson acceptable dating >= 60 days.
