Product Overview

The Cepheid UTM Nasal Collection and Transport System is a sterile, FDA-cleared kit designed to collect and stabilize nasal specimens for viral molecular diagnostic testing. Each kit pairs a flocked-tip applicator swab with a screw-cap collection tube containing 3 mL of UTM-RT Universal Transport Medium, supporting reliable specimen integrity from collection through laboratory analysis.

The Universal Transport Medium is engineered for collection, transport, preservation, and long-term frozen storage of clinical specimens containing viruses, including respiratory pathogens. The system meets CDC Interim Guidelines for Collection, Handling, and Testing of Clinical Specimens, supporting consistent specimen quality across diagnostic workflows.

The flocked nylon swab tip on a plastic shaft uses a brush-like architecture that captures and releases more cells than traditional fiber swabs, supporting better target recovery for downstream PCR and other molecular assays. The applicator includes a defined breaking point so the swab can be snapped cleanly into the transport tube without contaminating gloves or the work surface.

Supplied as 1 kit per pack with a 16 x 100 mm translucent tube and red screw cap, this UTM nasal collection kit is well suited for hospital labs, urgent care, primary care, and screening programs running viral molecular diagnostic tests.

Items Damaged During Shipping: If your product shows up damaged, make sure to note it when you get it and don't accept it, especially for big items. We'll only accept returns for defective products, and in those cases, we'll cover the return shipping. If you don't report the damage upon delivery, unfortunately, we won't be able to organize return shipping, and you'll be responsible for all the associated costs.

Returns Due to Change of Heart: Changed your mind? No worries! You have 30 days to return the unused product in its original packaging. You'll cover the return shipping, and once we get it back, we'll refund the product price, minus the shipping cost.

Refund Process: After we check and approve your returned product, we'll send you an email. Expect the refund to your original payment method within a week. Keep in mind that depending on your bank or card provider, it might take a bit longer for the refund to show up.
